Just like that, the week of Cannes Film Festival 2017 has come to an end. And while many models flocked to the French Riveriera in some pretty glamorous flocks, there was one celebrity who just had to show them how it is really done!!

Fellow Mexicana herself, Salma Hayek, was Queen of Cannes. Not only did she speak on a panel at the Women in Motion event, but from the moment she arrived in Cannes, she touched down in Gucci and continued repping and rocking her man’s brand at each event.

Yes, that’s right, her husband, François-Henri Pinault, is CEO of Kering and owns the top luxury brands we love like Gucci, Balenciaga, YSL. Lucky gal, huh?! 😉 Ok. Ok. Lucky fabrics!!! THEY get to be shown off on one of the most beautiful, talented, and respected actresses there is.

Gucci isn’t the only brand SeĂąorita Selma graced us in. Just as I thought the OOTDs couldn’t get anymore glamorous, she dazzled a YSL LBD with a breathtaking Boucheron necklace.

Fabrics, colors, and details are what caught my eye, but I HAD TO write this post simply for the range in looks she served – glamour, classy, nostalgic, fantasy. I mean guyssss, she rocked pink hair, at 50 years young, and SLAYED ❤

Shue Sass: A trend that will make you feel on top

Now i’m ALL about a heel with a front platform, providing full stability for long nights of dancing and running into the local convenient store for after party SNACKS. But this summer I’m feeling a certain trend rising from the ashes of all day style and comfort.

Derived from the 90s style making its comeback, the platform sneaker/sandal isn’t anything new, and while there’s been a selection or two at shoe boutiques the past few years, we can now see a plethora of options from Steve Madden to Aldo, and of course, even Gucci and Prada 😉

Recently seen on Ciara and Beyonce, we know if they are comfy enough for mom-to-bes, they are def going to be comfortable enough for us!

They just seem like something I can wear all day, while being cute and comfy aaaannd on top of the woooorld! hehe They will make me look SUPER tall, and I am a-okay with that 🙂

Happy Birthday to ME

In an effort to be as flirty as possible during my year of 30, I took an oath to begin collecting pieces that made me feel ME as much as possible.

The forecast for the week leading up to my birthday was extremely cold for a Texas/Cali girl. With temperature highs in the 50s, you know the glitter-printed wheels in my head were spinning, trying to spit out the perfect Bday Outfit ideas. A number of ensembles were brainstormed, but wait…what about a jacket??

What could it beee?

I had been in the market for a faux-feather coat, a Marabou, if you will. And while I’m not an online shopper, due to the lack of endorphin release one would normally get if they were exercising on a physical shopping experience, the world wide web was the only place left to search. Sure, I found a couple Marabou options overseas, but with their size ratio compared to me, a grown woman about to be 30, I would’ve needed a 3xL, which they didn’t have.
Click, click, click, the search continued untilllll…I landed on the 6th page of my search on Poshmark; there it was, third row to the right, MY birthday jacket. The coat that screamed ME, CURLY SHUE, PRISCILLA, PRINCESS PRICILLA.
While it wasn’t faux-feather, the rainbow color totes overruled that criteria; plus, it’s not like my obsession with faux-fur had gone away.

Sooo… it didn’t arrive before my birthday weekend, BUT the experience of receiving the package was overwhelmingly exciting, even though LA weather turned a drastic 180 (hey, it still gets cold at night).

This was my first time buying from Poshmark, ‘a social market place where anyone can buy, sell, and share their personal style’,  and while i enjoy the experience of trying on and feeling, and connecting with fabrics, sometimes, you just gotta extend your search to REALLY find what you want (zzaaammnn does this apply to dating too?!?? Haha)

The Style Get Down

It’s everything my life needs, funny, dramatic, true Hip Hop, Spanglish, aaaand 70s culture. The Get Down on Netflix is a must see. With characters each deeply developed with vibrant traits and a vibrant wardrobe, I had to share my favorite styles (trust me, it was hard to narrow down!).

Shaolin Fantastic
Sprints, hops, and kicks introduce the red Pumas Fantastic is known for wearing around the Bronx. A hustler, the wardrobe on this character was simple, and red & black was the color scheme that stayed throughout. To TOP it all off, in classic Hip Hop style, this character wears either a red 70s style driver cap, you know when Kangol first came into the scene, or a trucker hat, in red, of course.

Idk HOW this church girl got her hands on more than one vivacious dress, but i’m glad she did because these pieces just add to the strong personality she has, elevating her to Baby-Diva status.

PS: Can i find someone to look at me the way Ezekiel looks at Maylene? Amidst finding his way through adolescence in the Bronx, the lyricism that comes from that kid is fiiaaaa and the love he has to give is so dreamy ❤ .

Dizzee
Free spirited on the inside and out. Dizzee is our “hippie” character whose wardrobe is in fact my favorite from the show! Let’s just saaaaay my eyes turned into big buttons over his hippie-chic ensembles and artistic additions/accents. He’s fabulous in his own right, and I am SO inspired to add some special touches to my wardrobe.

TBT: Craig Sager-Bold & Badass

It’s been a couple weeks since Craig Sager accepted the Jimmy V award for Perseverance at the ESPYS and graced us with not only just a great speech, but yet another eye-popping fashion ensemble, making this the perfect reason to write a TBT post about him.

BOLD is the only word you need to describe this great man’s style, as he has NEVER held back on the fun. He wears bright colored suits, mix&matches patterns, and takes us on a time travel, right into a closet of the 70’s.
You know I’m ALL about giving props to those who express their style!!

His fight with cancer shows us this bold spirit goes beyond his choice of wardrobe.
Going from treatments in Houston in the AMs to covering Spurs games later that night in San Anton, that willpower is strong!

These KD  7s were specially designed for Sager, due to his swollen feet from cancer treatments. 

Speaking of strong…check out that #shoegame ! Subtle hints of synergy throughout pieces of an outfit, is always an indication of a true fashion icon. His shoes matched the small bits of leopard within his coat.

Thank you, Mr. Sager, for being such a light with your fashion sense and incredible character game in and game out.

MY DAD’S COOL

Dad:

Ever since I could remember, you’ve done anything and everything to put a smile on my face 🙂 Park time, then picking up my fav – Skittles & Hawaiian Punch. Root-beer floats & Popcorn while watching Spurs Games, Happy Meal drive thru runs in the little black truck. Playing outside with the dog. Fishing trips w/ sunflower seeds & Dr. Pepper — I know I know, a lot of food is involved 😉  Screaming our fav movie quotes & songs at the top of our lungs.

And the days you couldn’t fix my hair, you’d just throw my Spurs cap on top of my big head of curls.

Whether it be a camping trip @ Garner or soaking up the rays in Port A, you always made sure we had at least one summer excursion. 

You’ve never hesitated to make me a better person, whether it was waking me up on a holiday break just to hoop & practice dribble exercises . Encouraging me to cook. Saying “look it up in the dictionary” when I asked you how to spell a word. And at times, scolding me when I’m acting like a brat, all just to remind me that I am very blessed and not to take anything for granted.

Well I’m very blessed to have a Daddio like YOU!!!
I meannnn WHAT would my brother & I have done without you packing our snacks for after swimming lessons?? …and of course for taking us to swimming 🙂

You are kind, selfless, hardworking, and smart, and it’s no shocker your elementary school teacher would send a note home to my grandmother saying just how good of a student you are.

Yes, the fam might call you the Class Clown, but you know everyone loves it & I’m glad they say i’m JUST LIKE YOU.

Your efforts and love as a father don’t end even though I’m kiiiind of a grown up now. I can’t thank you & my mom enough for being my BIGGEST supporters through your words and actions. Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU for packing my dinner during my first year in advertising b/c you knew I worked super late. For taking a day off to drive me to Dallas just to get my passport. For going on bike rides w/ me and Bella Bear. For reminding me about my car registration renewal. And let’s not forget our weekly Chick Fil A dates!
For just simply always listening & guiding me through tough times & new adventures. There’s no better feeling than hearing you say “It’s going to be okay” ❤

And although I’m not the little girl you use to push in a cart at Kroger, while buying me my own pack of baby tortillas, you don’t care about that! You will STILL be fun & push me in a cart just to make me smile ❤ And for that, my dear Daddio, I am SO grateful to have a Dad like you!!

The Raspberry Beret

Many times I’m craving to unleash the style I envision in my head, and many, of those times, I stop myself. However recently, I got an extra push when memorializing a fallen star, excuse me, fallen super star. The night Prince passed away, bestie & I streamed throwback Prince performances, and I couldn’t help but feel in complete awe!

When you see Prince you see an unapologetic style icon. The epitome of male-fabulous ❤ Everything he wears screams FABULOUS and he’s 100% comfortable in his skin, in his stylish ensembles, and of course, performing on stage.
I felt inspired. Why not wear the things I concept in my dreams? It’s just a style..my style.

She wore a….RASPBERRY BERET

Sooo yea…I’ve decided to start my style stance with this raspberry beret I ordered that night.  I like hats/headpieces, and when they have a story or meaning behind them, it’s even better!!!

I just know that Prince didn’t care what others thought and I shouldn’t either! I can totes hear him say “Fuck them! You’re a sexy Motherfucker” 🙂
